Principal's Message
Welcome to Westridge Elementary School where teachers, staff, students and parents reach for the stars. Westridge is a wonderful place to learn and grow. We expect all who enter to be learners. Our teachers and staff work hard to support your children in their learning. We had tremendous results last year and are proud to announce we passed all elements of No Child Left Behind.
We will continue our fine arts focus. Our 5th and 6th grade students had a great year in band, orchestra, choir, drama, ballroom dance, and art. Each class had wonderful experiences and shared their learning with us. We will continue to raise money to build a fine arts center. This will include a band and orchestra room, a performance hall, and a keyboard room where 2nd-4th grade students will be taught piano skills.
We will continue to disaggregate student achievement data that will guide us in instructional decisions to better meet the needs of all students. We will continue to receive additional state money that will be used in Kindergarten through 2nd grade classes to hire assistants who will work with struggling readers. Last year this money proved well spent as our test scores increased dramatically in first and second grade. We continue to need parental help in the classrooms. Please volunteer in your child's classroom whenever possible.
I look forward to another great year at Westridge Elementary.
